Gilets, Cookie Sandwiches and Winter In New York

I've had so much wear from my Mint Velvet gilet this season, whether layering it over my leather jacket as outerwear in New York or adding it to a jumper for a cosy indoor Christmas look.

It's a piece I'll continue through to my spring/summer 2015 wardrobe too thanks to the big 70s influence that's heading our way. With long bohemian dresses or denim flares, it'll be a go-to come festival season.

The Standard roof is a must-do. The views are out of this world and the cocktails are pretty yummy too. We visited just before sundown to get the best of both day and night scenery.

Checking in at the Hudson Hotel is also a real feast for the eyes. Foliage set against exposed bricks and a giant chandelier makes quite the statement.

The rooms have a retro cabin feel and the Hudson Common restaurant offers great hearty room service. I can thoroughly recommend the BBQ wings, so tasty.

New York means lots of sightseeing and shopping. But when you do take a food break here are my two faves.

Order the burger and ask for a table in the hotel lobby if it's daytime.

Sprinkles

If you fancy a sugar hit, try out Sprinkles. They make cookie ice cream sandwiches which are just amazing.  My mix here is double chocolate and peanut butter cookies, sandwiched with salted caramel ice cream. Yum.
