Lucky me! Roxy very kindly invited me to the European leg of their annual girls-only snowboarding competition, the Roxy Chicken Jam 2010, in Saalbach Hinterglemm, Austria. Now I'm no pro snowboarder but the tricks and skill of these women is truly unbelievable and it wasn't until I'd taken six hours of lessons that I could really appreciate how talented they all are! Many falls later and I could just about edge down a slope but it's definitely a new hobby I'll be continuing at indoor slopes and away at resorts during the ski season. A big thank you to Board.at for my lessons.
The comp saw Finnish rider Enni Rukajarvi take the top prize and we all celebrated at a gig where electro pop band Bunny Lake played a set, followed by an after party at London Pub (ironic, me being a Londoner!)
Also worth a mention is the fact that the 2010 Roxy Chicken Jam was a completely carbon neutral event with the emissions produced by the production of artificial snow, the use of snow grooming vehicles and the concert being compensated in co-operation with the Sudden Rush Atlanic Rainforest Institution, saving 1,500 square metres of rainforest in Brazil.
Now to the shopping part... Check out Roxy's headphones, made in association with JBL. Not only are you getting top quality sound via JBL, they have that fun Roxy charm too. I had a close-up look at the range out in Austria and each headphone set is really cool looking and available in the brightest array of colours imaginable. So want a pair!
